8-8-07 Don't Drink Then Fish |

I had 2 guys from Houston this morning and they were in rough shape. Gordon Wright and his buddy stayed up too late at the bar and were not really ready to fish. Only Gordon continued to fish after the first 20 minutes and he faded fast. Next time I hope they might wait to the night after the trip to party. |

Today I had Robert Hill and it didn't take long to fill the box. He qiuckly got his limit while drifting the flats and caught and released a few more. He had never saltwater fished before and he got the hang of it really quick. We were done early and we had plenty to show for the day. |

8-2-07 DORADO! DORADO! DORADO! |

We started out in Cedar Bayou, but it quickly turned into a blue water trip. We found some kings and mackeral on the Oceanic Express, but the real fish were on the shrimp boats. When we pulled up to the 3 shrimpers, the fish were everywhere. I was running around yelling Dorado! Dorado! Dorado!, when a school of ling came to the boat. The only clear mono rods we had rigged up were the trout poles from Cedar Bayou. We quickly had 2 big ling on 10 lb. test and small spinning reels. After we got the ling in the boat, we started hammering dorado. There were assorted other fish in with them like dog tooth snapper, rainbow runners, and sharks. We caught all the fish we wanted to before running into small nice bonita also. Our final count was 1 shark, 1 dog tooth snapper, 2 spanish mackeral, 2 kingfish,2 big ling, 4 trout, 6 rainbow runners, and 6 dorado. This is what blue water fishing is all about. |

Christy Hance and he boyfriend came down today and we went over to a back lake I like to fish. The first few spots produced little, but we finally found a good concertration of trout by a little reef. It was nonstop action for about 2 hours, but there was a lot of small fish mixed in with the 14 keppers we had. We then went fishing for redfish. We made 2 drifts and picked up some nice reds on both drifts. These 2 were great fun and better fisherpeople. |

7-29-07 Redemption day for BHP |
I had the oppurtunity to take Tom Kraft, Cleveland Williams, and Mason from BHP out again today. Our first trip to San Antonio Bay was hampered by strong winds that made it rough and unfishable. Today was a much better day. We hit trout just about everywhere we stopped. There were tons of undersized trout, but we found 15 that made the cut and lost 3 nice ones to the porpoise on Mud Island. They only seemed to want the nice legal fish. It was like they knew what the right size was. It was nice to put these guys on the fish. Tom is my web guy and good friend. He has helped to make much of this possible and I am really glad we found some decent fish today. |

I had a double today that started out with Annette Tobias and her son. We got off to a quick start this morning with her son nailing his first 7 fish quickly. We bounced around and picked up a few more before calling it quits at 10:00. My next group arrived at 11:00 and we went back out for a mixed bag. Mike Navarro brought his grandson Mikie out and Mikie put it on the fish quick. He had several trout over 20 on Mud Island before we went over to the donut and caught a few reds. This kid is good! It was a little windy today, but we made the best of it. |
