This month has brought many changes with it.  We started this month in the lower Laguna Madre.  Limits were common and we even had a few 28-30 inch trout.  Most of the trips down south had a few flounder and redfish too.  In fact, we had a 38 inch red on one of our trips.  Then came hurricane Ike.  This brought lots of high water to the area.  Our first front of the year saved Rockport from the storm. All of the guides lost quite a few trips due to Ike, but it did open up a lot of areas to us that we haven't fished in a while.  3 days after the storm, the reds were "stacked up" in San Antonio Bay.  We had several days with limits of both black drum and redfish.  The reds were fairly easy to find for a few weeks after Ike.  I fished in the annual Stripes fundraising tournament in Corpus at the end of the month.  They always do a great job with this tournament and this year was no different.  I think we had almost 50 boats this year and just about everyone caught some fish.  October is here and I'm looking forward to fishing up North again!!
